- Reality Is Relationship
Reality Is Relationship
I just want to get things done.
Make the thing.
Launch the thing.
Connect. Grow. Win. Build. Move.
Sometimes I’m in a rush.
Sometimes I even pray first.
But then I move ahead… alone.
And I hear the Lord whisper,
“Come sit.”
Even Jesus—the perfect Son of God—said He only did what He saw the Father doing.
Nothing outside of that.
Nothing from self-starting hustle.
Nothing that didn’t begin in relationship.
Because relationship isn’t a step in the process.
It is the process.
It’s not a means to fruit.
It is the soil of the tree.
And more than that, the relationship is reality.
God is not just in a relationship.
God is relationship.
God is love.
And love exists only within relationship.
God isn’t just defined as Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
God is the relationship between them.
Life comes from relationship. (More on this next week)
So to do things outside of relationship—
to build, perform, create, lead, parent, launch, decide—
outside of communion with Him—
is to step outside of reality. outside of life…
But here’s the crazy thing:
You can.
You can build your business.
Grow your platform.
Lead your church.
Love your spouse.
Raise your kids.
Raise the dead.
Cast out demons.
Give water to those in prison.
You can do it without Him.
You know many people who do all the above and succeed.
But it’s not the point.
‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.
The point is to know Him.
To know Him while doing it.
To know Him while building.
To know Him in the middle of your momentum.
Like a marriage—it’s not about the wedding day.
It’s about the daily choosing to live from the relationship.
To let it frame your decisions.
To let it shape your posture.
To let it be the very atmosphere you breathe.
That was the temptation of Eve:
Maybe there’s something better outside the relationship.
Maybe I don’t need Him.
Maybe I can do this myself.
Maybe knowledge is more efficient than intimacy.
And we face that lie daily.
We pray for guidance and then rush off without waiting.
We start in Him but don’t continue with Him.
But the call remains: “Abide in Me.”
Not just visit. Not just check in. Abide.
Because in one night, you can fish for hours and catch nothing.
Then one word from Him… and the nets are overflowing.
And yet the fish were never the point.
He. With us. Is.
The goal isn’t supernatural results.
The goal is a supernatural relationship.
To know Him in the making.
To know Him in the building.
To know Him in the living and the dying.
Because that’s what He desires.
To be known. (as in Loved & Enjoyed)
Not used. Not consulted.
Known.
