Be weak and vulnerable

It takes strength and courage

It's been a tough week in the church world with Gateway's senior pastor stepping down amid some troubling accusations from 30 years ago. It's a challenging time when admired leaders fall short. As worship leaders, we need to recognize that being in front of people can create pressure to appear perfect.

Christian culture often puts leaders on pedestals, admiring their piety and righteousness. This can prevent transparency and honesty because there's a fear of losing status. The pressure to maintain appearances makes it hard for leaders to be vulnerable and seek help.

The solution starts within our local communities. Instead of telling others to be vulnerable, we must lead by example. Seek help from trusted individuals, walk closely with others, and let them see our wounds and weaknesses.

Remember, we're not here to appear strong. Our goal is to be honest about our weaknesses because His strength is perfect when ours is gone. Maybe the church's weakness lies in people trying too hard to appear strong, thereby missing out on His perfect strength.

As the dear pants for the water, so my would longs after You…
